Salesperson Pre-Licensing Requirements

  1. Provide proof of age and be 18 years old
  2. Provide a certificate of completion from a 48-Hour Pre-Exam - The 48-hour course MUST be completed prior to completing the 24-Hour Prelicensing course
  3. Provide evidence of fingerprinting and background check through IDEMIA
  4. Complete application for license within six months from the date of completion of the 48-Hour Pre-Exam course.
  5. Pass both National and State portions of the Missouri Salesperson Examination
  6. Provide a certificate of completion for the 24-hour Missouri Real Estate Practice Course prior to submitting for licensure.

Broker Pre-Licensing Requirements

  1. Provide evidence of active Salesperson license in Missouri, or another state for no less than 24-months of the last 36 months
  2. Provide certificate of completion of an approved 48-hour course known as the "Broker Pre-Examination Course" no more than six months prior to the application for licensure.
  3. Pass both National and State portions of the required examination

Salesperson Continuing Education Requirements

  1. Complete 12 hours of real estate continuing education every two years
  2. Out of the 12 hours, 3 of those hours must be taken in a course identified by the Missouri Real Estate Commission as core credit.
  3. Salesperson licensees expire September 30th of even years

Broker Continuing Education Requirements

  1. Complete 12 hours of real estate continuing education every two years
  2. Out of the 12 hours, 3 of those hours must be taken in a course identified by the Missouri Real Estate Commission as core credit.
  3. Broker licensees expire June 30th of even years

Exam Provider and Fingerprinting Information

  1. Fingerprinting Vendor: IDEMIA (Identogo)
    1. Register with the Missouri Automated Criminal History Site (MACHS) at machs.mo.gov
    2. Contact them via telephone at 844-543-9712 to have a Service Representative assist, please provide the MREC&'s four-digit registration code of 0004 to register for fingerprints.
      1. Upon registration, applicants will be provided a list of fingerprinting locations available throughout the state, including hours of operation.
      2. Bring Photo ID (Driver&'s license, military ID, or Passport are acceptable identifications)
      3. Pay required fee of $41.75 (IDEMIA receives $8.50, Missouri Highway State Patrol receives $20.00 and the FBI receives $13.50. MREC does not receive any funds for this) with credit/debit card, money order, or cash (must be exact change).

EFFECTIVE 4/2/20:

  1. Renewals:
    1. Broker expiration dates will be extended from June 30, 2020 until August 31, 2020.
    2. Salesperson expiration dates will be extended from September 30, 2020 until October 31, 2020.
  2. Continuing Education:
    1. Meeting CE requirements for brokers has been extended from June 30, 2020 until August 31, 2020.
    2. Meeting CE requirements for salespersons has been extended from September 30, 2020 until October 31, 2020.
    3. The one Core course in Real Estate Ethics will still be required.
    4. CE hours for brokers completed after June 30, 2020 and before the license is renewed cannot also be used for 2022 renewal.
    5. CE hours for salespersons completed after September 30, 2020 and before the license is renewed cannot also be used for 2022 renewal.
  3. License Applications:
    1. For those applicants completing the 48-hour Missouri Salesperson Pre-Examination Course after March 1, 2020, they will be granted a 60-day extension beyond the certificate expiration date to complete all phases of the application process.
    2. For those applicants completing the 48-hour Missouri Broker Pre-Examination Course after March 1, 2020, they will be granted a 60-day extension beyond the certificate expiration date to complete all phases of the application process.
