Salesperson Pre Licensing Education Requirements

  1. Be 18 years old
  2. Complete 72 hours of education within four years before submitting for licensure, or:
  3. Complete 10 academic semester credits in real estate or real estate related law. 
  4. Pass the State and National Exam
  5. Submit application to the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) with all required items.

Broker Pre Licensing Education Requirements

  1. Be 18 years old
  2. Have held a real estate salesperson license for at least 2 year within the last 4 preceding application . 
  3. Meet one of the following three options:
    1. Complete the Board approved 72 hour program for Brokers within four years before submitting the application for licensure. Refer to Wisconsin Admin Code for more information about the Broker pre-license program. 
    2. Complete 20 academic semester hour credits at an institute of higher learning in real estate or real estate related law. 
    3. Submit evidence that you are licensed to practice law in Wisconsin.
  4. Pass State and National Exam
  5. Submit application to Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) with all required items.

Salesperson & Broker Continuing Education Requirements

  1. Renewal periods are Biennium from 12/15-even year- 12/14/even year
  2. Complete 18 hours of Continuing Education to include:
    1. Six three-hour modules with specific course content. 2019-2020 Continuing Education Curriculum lists detailed education outlines
  3. Pay applicable fees 
  4. Renewals can be done online or via paper forms.

  6. As of December 1st, 2016 Brokers are no longer exempt from CE requirements if their first biennium being licensed as a Broker.
