An exclusive listing arrangement means you are granting your agent/ broker with exclusive access to find a buyer for your home. With this type of agreement no other agent/broker will be compensated for bringing buyers without working under the signed listing agreement to your home. This is why it needs a definite termination date, because if the relationship does not work out, a time needs to be established for when the seller can engage in a contract with a new broker/agent without consequences.
